Het terrein kwam beschikbaar na de ontmanteling van de vestingwerken aan de oostzijde van het stadje.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The last Jews from Bredevoort to be interred at this cemetery were siblings Levi and Sara Sander. Both passed away in 1938, shortly after one another. The cemetery is not open to the public.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Two Jewish cemeteries<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bredevoort had ooit twee Joodse begraafplaatsen. De oudste was gelegen op het voormalige <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/samenleving\/oorlog-verzet\/vesting-bredevoort\/kasteel-bredevoort\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">kasteelterrein<\/a> achter <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/bredevoort\/hozenstraat-05\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hozenstraat 5<\/a>. In 1953 werd dit terrein verkocht aan de gemeente Aalten ten behoeve van woningbouw. Since 2018, volunteers from the Bredevoorts Belang association have been responsible for mowing the grass and keeping the walls and the 12 gravestones free of climbing plants. In 2022, restoration work began to repair cracks in the walls, renew the pointing, and refurbish the gate.  <\/p>\n\n<figure data-wp-context=\"{&quot;imageId&quot;:&quot;6aa097b8c27ab&quot;}\"
