Het was onderdeel van de <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/oorlog-verzet\/vesting-bredevoort\/vestingstad-bredevoort\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vestingwerken van Bredevoort<\/a>. Doordat <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/bredevoort\/landstraat-32-molen-prins-van-oranje\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">molen De Prins van Oranje<\/a> op dit bastion werd gebouwd bleef deze gespaard van ontmanteling en is dit dan ook Bredevoorts enige overgebleven bastion.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bastion is no longer easily recognisable. It was once eight metres high and equipped with three cavaliers (katten) plus a breastwork. Due to the excavation of the breastwork, the bastion now stands six metres high. The lower rampart has also been removed, and the surrounding moats have been filled in.   <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"reconstructie\">Reconstruction<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Op de afbeelding een weergave van een reconstructie van het bastion Welgemoed. Zichtbaar gemaakt is de ligging ten opzichte van de huizen die er tegenwoordig staan. Ook zichtbaar de onderwal die voor het bastion ligt. Het deel aan de rechterkant is tevens het deel dat er tegenwoordig vormloos ligt. De courtine aan de linkerkant op de afbeelding is grotendeels verdwenen, alleen een verhoging ter hoogte van de <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/bredevoort\/kerkstraat-16-georgiuskerk\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sint Georgiuskerk<\/a> is een laatste restant van de hoofdwal die hier naar <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/oorlog-verzet\/vesting-bredevoort\/bastion-ossenkop\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bastion Ossenkop<\/a> liep.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the six bastions of the Bredevoort
