On 6 June 1861, he married <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/207311691\/elisabeth-ten_dam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Elisabeth Manschot<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 1871, Abraham and his brother-in-law <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/en\/society\/population\/biography\/bernard-manschot\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"65092\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bernard Manschot<\/a> founded a comb factory on Damstraat in Aalten: <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/aalten\/damstraat-25-kammenfabriek-ten-dam-en-manschot\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ten Dam &amp; Manschot<\/a>. They lived opposite each other on Bredevoortsestraatweg; Bram in the house that now characterises the <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/aalten\/bredevoortsestraatweg-040\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Van Panhuis physiotherapy clinic<\/a>, and Bernard in the white villa across the road. Bram&#8217;s son (and successor), Herman, commissioned the construction of the house at <a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/aalten\/bredevoortsestraatweg-052\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bredevoortsestraatweg 52<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ten Dam also served as a local councillor and alderman in the municipality of Aalten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abraham ten Dam passed away on 1 February 1915, at the age of 80, and was buried at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.findagrave.com\/memorial\/207319227\/abraham-ten_dam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Old Cemetery<\/a> in Aalten.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"
