{"id":143613,"date":"2023-12-18T22:24:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-18T20:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/aalten-achteruit\/cato-kothuis\/"},"modified":"2026-05-01T18:19:51","modified_gmt":"2026-05-01T16:19:51","slug":"cato-kothuis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/en\/education\/teachers\/cato-kothuis\/","title":{"rendered":"Cato Kothuis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"is-style-text-subtitle is-style-text-subtitle--1 wp-block-paragraph\">Teacher<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-794e3cfa wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Catharina Cecilea (Cato) Kothuis<\/strong> was born on 23 November 1908 at house no. 8 in Aalten (<a href=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/aalten\/landstraat-04\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Landstraat 4<\/a>), as the daughter of brushmaker Johannes Kothuis and Helena Theodora Vultink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"180\" height=\"135\" src=\"https:\/\/oldaalten.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/Cato-Kothuis-1908-2001.png\" alt=\"Cato Kothuis (1908&#x2013;2001)\" class=\"wp-image-102160\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cato Kothuis lived with her sister at Landstraat 4. Both sisters remained unmarried. Cato was known as a remarkable woman: deeply religious, yet simultaneously broad-minded. For many years, she was a teacher at the St. Jozef Roman Catholic School, where she taught generations of children. During lessons, she would accompany the class singing on a heavy electric organ, which produced a rather wailing sound.     <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cato Kothuis passed away on 30 March 2001.
