Abraham Antonij Stumph was born in Aalten on 4 February 1784, the son of Aalten’s first mayor, Christiaan Casper Stumph, and Jeanne Lesturgeon.
Abraham Antonij Stumph died in Aalten on 23 July 1818, aged 34, after drowning in the Slingebeek. Local tradition held that his death was connected with a broken heart. He was buried on the family estate ’t Smees, in the burial mound on Nannielaantje.
