Al in de 16e eeuw was deze boerderij eigendom van de kerk van Aalten. Als bewoner komen wij dan tegen Engelbart op den Hof. Hieruit blijkt duidelijk, dat wij niet te maken hebben met een oude begraafplaats, maar met een boerderij van de kerk.

Tobe opten Kerckhoff moest in 1544 eens in de twee weken een volle dag werken voor de heer van Bredevoort. Voor een katerstede was de boerderij vrij groot. Een molder bouwland was van de kerk, maar in 1647 wordt opgegeven dat de totale oppervlakte bouwland 4½ molder bedroeg, d.w.z. een oppervlakte waarvoor men 4 mud rogge nodig had om deze te bezaaien. De bouwman op Kerkhof bezat tevens de oude katerstede Klein Lurverdink.

Volontaire Protocollen en Kerkrekeningen

In 1626 dragen Hendrick Kerckhoff (en zijn vrouw Gesken) “sijn alinge gerechticheit an dat halve Erff und guet Kerckhoff t’Iserloe” over aan hun dochter Heijlen en haar echtgenoot Johan ten Vehnhuiss alias Kerckhof. Van 1674-1688 wordt de kerckenpacht voor Kerckhof betaalt door Embert / Engbert ten Kerckhoff. Hij maakt met zijn vrouw Lijsken in 1654 een langstlevenden testament.
