Rosierweg 1, Lintelo

Overview

The farmhouse dates from 1799, as indicated by date anchors in the front façade. The detached barn beside it dates from around 1900. The farm is built in the local hall-house style and has a rectangular plan, one storey and an attic beneath a gable roof with a loft. The roof is covered with ceramic tiles and has a brick chimney on the right-hand slope. The elevations are built in brick.

Although the detailing has been renewed, it remains in keeping with the historic character. The main entrance to the living quarters is on the right, within a row of six-pane windows. On the upper floor, three windows extend to the timber boarding of the gable. A decorative finial, or stiepel sign, crowns the façade.

The barn beside the farmhouse is characteristic of developments around 1900 and is built in machine-made brick. It too has a rectangular plan, one storey and a tiled gable roof, although the roof slopes begin at a higher level. The front contains several stable entrances and stable windows with decorative panes. On the upper floor are two oculus windows and a hayloft door. The structure behind these buildings dates from 1850.

Appeared Johan Volmer, bailiff at Vreden, and his wife Mechtelt, who acknowledged for themselves and their heirs that, for a fully paid sum of money, they had lawfully and irrevocably sold and conveyed in hereditary sale to Rosier Loomans, his wife Jenneken and their heirs the hereditary estate and farm Boijdens stede named, with all its high and low lands, timber, turf and undergrowth, situated in the parish of Aalten, rural district of Lintelo, adjoining Heijnen’s estate and Doernick Diepengoor within its established boundaries; one field bordered Maeges Maetken and otherwise Kolenbroek. The property, with all appurtenances and rights, was conveyed free of tithes and encumbrances, except for an annual due of four and a half stuivers to the House of Bredevoort, two pairs of hens, customary personal service and two pounds of wax annually to the church at Aalten. They ceded and surrendered the property, renounced it by hand, straw and word, and promised warranty, a better deed and hereditary confirmation according to local law, pledging all their goods wherever situated. Rechterlijk Archief Bredevoort, 09-04-1636

Warner Eppinck and Jenneken Cappers, spouses, sold to Johan Lohmans and Stine ten Ruijl, spouses, and Lubbert Lohmans and Aelcke Essink, spouses, an ‘original mortgage deed’ for seven mudde and one schepel of rye in Aalten measure, redeemable for 700 guilders, which their father Rosier Lohman had obtained on 23-05-1632 from Wilhelm Friedrich, Count of Limburg, etc. On the same day Johan Lohman and Lubbert Lohman, together with their wives, declared that Warner Eppinck and Jenneken Cappers had paid them for their paternal and maternal inheritance. They also declared that they had sold the estate Boijtinck in Lintelo, together with a meadow in the same hamlet, to Warner Eppinck and Jenneken Cappers.

Overdrachtsbelasting Heerlijkheid Bredevoort 1786

On 29 March, Geertruijd Woords, widow of Hendrik Jan Rensink at Roseer, paid 10 guilders for an eighth share of the estate and farm Roseer in the rural district of Lintelo, parish of Aalten, with its buildings, arable and hay fields, pasture, enclosed land and common sod-cutting rights. It had been purchased from Jan Ebbink, acting as attorney for Derk ten Bengevoort Jansz. under a power of attorney dated 10 January 1784 and executed before the noble court of the Lordship of Bredevoort, for 500 guilders on 18 March 1786.

On 29 August 1795, 50 guilders were received from Roelof Oberink and Janna Frees, spouses, in payment of the fiftieth-penny tax on a certain share of the estate Rosier, consisting of a house, yard, arable land and pasture, enclosed land, common sod-cutting rights and timber, as occupied, cultivated and used by the seller, situated in the rural district of Lintelo in the parish of Aalten. It had been purchased from Jan Beerend Rensinck at Rosier, both parties being residents of the aforesaid parish and hamlet, for 2,500 guilders on 20 July 1795. ……………………. f. 50-00-00

In view of the above, Jan Berent Rensink was probably succeeded at Rosier by Roelof Oberink and Johanna Freers, parents of the resident mentioned below, Garrit Jan Oberink (married to Lammertje Maats and to Engelina Gesina Sondern).

They bought Boijdens stede in 1618. The farm was probably named after Rosier. They may previously have lived there as tenant farmers. Their son Jan was referred to in 1628 as ‘Johan Lohman gnt Boijdens’.

Lubbert, a brother of Willem Rosier alias Eppinck, at Eppink in Dale, lived at Rosier. This is shown by the 1650 land-tax register (original register), where Lubbert Lohman alias Rosier is recorded as the farmer at Boijdens stede in Lintelo. At Eppink, the father of Willem and Lubbert was still the farmer. It is also confirmed by the 1640 Voluntary Protocol, which contains a note dated 11-05-1656 mentioning ‘Willem Eppinck, late Rosier Lohman’s son, living at Eppinck’.
