Overview
The Bredevoort Co-operative Raiffeisen Bank, also referred to as the Boerenleenbank, was initially based at Landstraat 5a and moved to a new bank building at Markt 8 in 1964.
Gerrit te Boveldt, a baker at Landstraat 5, served as the bank’s cashier until 1961. Much of the day-to-day work was carried out by deputy cashier Jan Elferink, who later became director of the Raiffeisen Bank.
Markt 8
In 1963-1964 the bank commissioned a new detached office at Markt 8, designed by Aalten architect B. Blekkink. The bank moved into the new building in 1964. The 1967 address directory lists the Co-operative Boerenleenbank there.
The bank later continued under the Rabobank name. From 2013 Markt 8 no longer functioned as a bank branch and the cash machine was also removed. The subsequent architectural history and present use of the building are recorded on the Place page for Markt 8.
