Overview
This smock mill with a drive-through base was built in 1849 for Mr Lammers. One of its owners was Jan Albert Tenkink (1834–1917). The last miller was Herman Lammers (1843–1921).
On Monday 5 June 1911, Whit Monday, the windmill was struck by lightning and burnt out. It was subsequently dismantled. Until 1989 Bernard Assink used the excavated mill base to store machinery. An interview with him can be watched below. In 1990 the remaining mill base was demolished because it had become unsafe.
The site remained known as the Oude Molen (‘Old Mill’). The residential address later became known as Olde Mölle; the name of ’t Möllenveld primary school also refers to the former windmill in Haart.
