Overview
Opened in 1959, this nursery school was initially called Hervormde Kleuterschool Kindervreugde (Dutch Reformed Nursery School Kindervreugde). It was later renamed ‘t Broekhofke. The nursery school belonged to the nearby primary school De Broekhof in Vondelstraat.
After the primary school and nursery school were merged into a single primary school in 1985, the nursery pupils moved to De Broekhof’s main building. Half of the original building in Bilderdijkstraat was demolished; the remaining section is now a neighbourhood centre with a playground, called ‘t Spölhuuksken.
