Overview
The Christian National School in Lintelo was founded in 1901 and is now known as De Klimop Primary School. The building has been altered several times over the years. First, the house and the two adjoining classrooms on the Halteweg side were rebuilt; later, two further classrooms were added on the Schooldijk side.
Lintelo gained a Christian school in 1901. Its first headmaster was W. Hillen, who worked there from 1901 to 1930. He became particularly well known as a music teacher, but was also the first secretary of Lintelo’s Belang in 1906 and was involved in founding the Advendo brass band in 1919. His successor was R.J. van Lente, who taught in Lintelo from 1930 to 1960. He too was closely involved in village life and played an important role in the creation of the Wilhelmina building.
Alterations and community school
Until the 1980s the school remained much as many older residents still remember it. During the 1980s and 1990s, two major rebuilding projects followed in fairly quick succession. In the 2002–2003 school year, plans were drawn up for what was known as a broad community school, integrating the local playgroup and childcare provision into the school building. The rebuilt school opened in March 2006, creating a modern building adapted to contemporary requirements.
Kulturhus
In August 2007 the school was altered again, and in June 2008 the Wilhelmina building and the school were connected both literally and figuratively to form a so-called Kulturhus. In this way, the school hoped to make a major contribution to the quality of life in the hamlet.
