Overview
Haart formerly had two schools: the Public Primary School (later the Dutch Reformed School) in ‘Voor-Haart’ and the Christian National School in ‘Achter-Haart’. The Public / Dutch Reformed School stood at Haartseweg 17, centrally located in the hamlet of Voor-Haart.
Founded as a public primary school, it was converted into a Dutch Reformed school in 1924. In 1978 the two schools in Haart merged and the new school ‘t Möllenveld opened.
Youth centre
The school building in Achter-Haart was demolished, but many people in Aalten now know the former Dutch Reformed school better as Atlantic Youth Centre.
Atlantic Youth Centre grew out of two so-called ‘chicken-coop’ youth clubs with the colourful names Reflection and Jofel, and officially came into being on 10 February 1979. Its name was chosen, as democratically as possible, by means of a competition.
