The earliest references to the Thalia theatre society in Aalten date from the period 1900-1904. There is then no further mention until 1915, suggesting that the society was probably inactive during the intervening years. In 1935, however, Thalia staged an anniversary revue to mark its 20th anniversary, which points to a (re)foundation in 1915.
