Stationsstraat in Aalten begins as a side street off Landstraat and, after a bend, runs straight towards the railway station. The first section from Landstraat was formerly known as Koelmansstegge.
Questions we still have: the upper photograph shows that, before the memorial to people in hiding was installed opposite the station, an attractive column stood there. What was this column? Was it a monument, and what did it represent? We would also welcome more information about the livestock weighbridge near the station, diagonally opposite Hotel de Besker.
