In 1958, Aalten municipal council decided to extend Kemenaweg from Admiraal de Ruyterstraat to Bocholtsestraatweg. This road was later named Nijverheidsweg. The section west of Kemenaweg, from Admiraal de Ruyterstraat to Richterinkstraat, was built later.
