Polstraat takes its name from the monumental farmhouse ‘De Pol’, also known as ‘De Ahof’, dating from 1743. The farmhouse, which stands beside the street, is one of Aalten’s oldest buildings and was long one of the most important farms in the area. The name ‘De Pol’ refers to a raised piece of ground.
