Eén van de eerste bewoners (vanaf 1909) was gemeenteopzichter Jan Brill en zijn gezin. Daarna is het bewoond geweest door de familie Te Sligte. Meneer Te Sligte was directeur van ‘de Landbouw‘.

Na zijn pensionering/emeritaat kwam vervolgens ds. Schouten in het huis wonen. Hij gaf het huis de naam ‘Beth San’, wat in het Hebreeuws Huis van Rust, Huis van Vrede betekent. Omdat hij zich heeft ingezet voor de ouderenzorg in Aalten, werd later het verzorgingshuis aan de Ludgerstraat ook Beth San genoemd. Sindsdien heet het huis aan de Ormelstraat ‘Klein Beth San’.

Omstreeks 1955 begon mevrouw (toen mejuffrouw) Te Paske een pension in het huis. Halverwege de jaren 60 vond een grote verbouwing plaats. Diverse aanpassingen werden gedaan, waaronder de uitbreiding van de serre, de badkamer boven (nu berghok) en de aanleg van centrale verwarming. Het toilet aan het einde van de hal werd onder de trap geplaatst.

Mevrouw Te Paske had vooral langdurige kostgangers in haar pension, onder wie veel docenten en leraren van het voortgezet onderwijs in Aalten. Maar in de zomer verbleven er ook vakantiegasten. Haar langste pensiongast was Nico Berkelaar. De kleurrijke leraar Frans bewoonde de twee kamers aan de voorkant, samen met zijn papegaai Lorre, die perfect in het Frans kon tellen. Hij woonde er meer dan 25 jaar.

In 1995 verkocht mevrouw Te Paske de woning aan de Hervormde Kerk en werd het door de stichting STOOG in gebruik genomen als woning voor crisisopvang. In 1999 vertrok de stichting STOOG naar Doetinchem en in januari 2000 werd de woning bij openbare inschrijving verkocht. Het huis wordt tegenwoordig weer particulier bewoond.
