Eén ervan was afkomstig van Johan van Trier of Johan van Triest, zoals elders geschreven staat. Bij dit huis behoorde een kampje aan de Benninkweide.

Het andere huis was vroeger geweest van Gerlig van Kessel, denkelijk een kleinzoon van Johan van Kessen, die in 1529 genoemd wordt. Hierbij hadden een tuin en twee kampjes land aan Eeckinck Wissche behoord. Deze laatste katerstede komen wij ook tegen als Kessenstede en waarschijnlijk ook als het huis van Jan ter Wissche.

In 1609 wordt genoteerd, dat het huis, dat vroeger van Gerlig van Kessel was, met het kampje van het andere huis, als ‘verering’ enige tijd tevoren geschonken was aan de heer van Anholt. Wat overbleef werd door de kerk verder verpacht aan Koyerman, wiens naam als Kuierman tot vandaag aan de boerderij is blijven kleven.

In 1621 zijn Derck ter Mebell en zijn vrouw Aelken Kessen eigenaars en verkopen het erf en goed Kessenstede aan het echtpaar Geerde Kessen en Jan van Veelen.

Twee kinderen van dit echtpaar worden in 1704 en 1707 als Kuijerman gedoopt. Later wonen ze in Spork. Weduwnaar Berent hertrouwt in 1725 in Aalten met Jenneken te Huijstede.
